Home Remedies to Detoxify
The word “detoxify” means, quite literally, to remove the poison from something. When combined with home remedies,
it refers to ways to better your body using common things often found around the house. The body will heal on its own and naturally if
supported the right way. Below are just a few of the many fruits, vegetables, and herbs that are used as home remedies to detoxify your
body.
Dandelion
Dandelion is held in high regard as a detoxifier, although many don’t know it. It helps with the elimination of toxins from every
cell in the body, and is even used in treatments of the liver
Licorice Root
Licorice root is an important herb for treating kidney ailments and is also recommended for the liver and respiratory tract. It is
a good antioxidant and antiviral to help protect and detoxify the liver.
Grapes
There are a total of between 40 and 50 different varieties of grapes, and all of them are a great source for potassium, which help
with an alkaline blood balance and also stimulate the kidneys and regulate heartbeat. Grapes are also good at cleansing the liver and
removing uric acid from the body.
Asparagus
Asparagus is known for the amino acid asparagines that are destroyed by cooking. Asparagines are a strong diuretic which
stimulates the kidneys. Asparagus is also a great blood cleanser and good to help maintain healthy bowels.
Parsley
Ancient civilizations used parsley in medications and in poultices on wounds, boils, cysts. It was also used to draw the pus out
of an infected cut. Parsley is one of the highest sources of life-giving chlorophyll, which acts like iron to oxidize the
blood. This might be even more important because chlorophyll will help neutralize the strong odor of garlic, and is used in chewing
gum to sweeten breath. It is also a cleanser of the kidneys, liver, and urinary tract. Parsley can be effective for upset
stomachs, too, by stimulating digestive enzymes.
Sweet Potatoes
Sweet potatoes and yams have the odd ability to remove heavy metals from the body, so doctors in the Soviet Union prescribe diets that are heavy
on such foods for factory workers that are continually exposed to toxic chemicals. Sweet potatoes also contain phytochelatins, which helps them
bind to harmful substances like copper, cadmium, mercury and lead, things most of us are exposed to on a regular basis from air pollution. The
phytochelatins help pass these toxins out of the body.
